Tassarene Man, who vanished 25 years ago, reunited with family
A heartwarming story unfolded on January 15, 2025, when a long-lost family member, Nick Romalho, 45, of Tassarene Village, Region Seven (7) reunited with his relatives after being separated for 25 years.
The remarkable moment took place at Toroparo, Region 7, as Nick, who had been missing from his family for more than two decades, unexpectedly met 28-year-old Andy Gilmore, an old workmate, and later discovered they were family.
Fazeena George, Andy’s wife, shared this touching story with Guyana Daily News (GDN).
“I asked him where he was from, and he shared what he remembered. I then shared the story with my family in the family group and also shared it with some of my friends, and upon learning who he is he was reunited with family after 25 long years; it was a beautiful moment,” George told GDN.
According to George Nick approached Andy. Andy didn’t recognize Nick, despite his attempts to recall their shared history. However, Nick explained that he had been the person who had taken Andy’s bag containing his ID card while they were working together eight (8) years ago.
Andy’s curiosity was piqued. Nick had kept the ID card safe for all these years. When Nick handed it back to Andy, the surprise reunion sparked a range of emotions.
As the conversation continued, it was then revealed that the men were related. Nick’s brother, Clifton Romalho, currently works with Andy.
Andy was astounded to learn that Nick was not just a former colleague but also his cousin. It was an emotional moment when Andy also realized that the man who had carried away his ID card years ago was family.
The emotional rollercoaster didn’t stop there. Nick got separated from his family at a young age. It was disclosed that Nick’s father had been devastated by his disappearance. In an emotional phone call with Nick’s sister, Clintcia Romalho, the reunion continued as Clintcia was brought to tears upon learning that her long-lost brother was alive.
