Minister of Education Priya Manickchand is encouraging all parents of children who will turn three years old on or before June 30, 2025, to apply for nursery school registration by the deadline of March 28.

Timely registration will ensure eligibility for the “Because We Care” cash grant, which supports families with children in the public and private school systems.

In her message to parents, Minister Manickchand highlighted the importance of early registration to ensure smooth processing of the cash grant, which is typically distributed between July and August.

“If you miss the registration deadline of March 28, your child will still be placed in a nursery school, but it may delay the cash grant,” she cautioned.

Parents are advised to visit their local nursery school or regional education department to collect an application form, which can be downloaded online.

Essential documents required for registration include the child’s birth certificate, immunisation card, parent ID, and proof of address. While the ministry encourages parents to provide these documents, it has also emphasised that children will still be accepted into the system without them.
