Minister within the Ministry of Housing and Water, Susan Rodrigues, has refused allegations that she was “given” property in the United States in exchange for land in Guyana.

In a statement on Wednesday, Minister Rodrigues dismissed the claims as “a complete fabrication,” noting that the individual who made the accusation quickly deleted the post within an hour of publishing it.

According to the Minister, she was made aware of the allegation just after 18:00h on Tuesday when she received a forwarded message regarding the post.

She stated that an individual from the media had inquired about “what she wanted to do” in response. Rodrigues made it clear that she refused to be blackmailed and responded in unambiguous terms that she would not tolerate such attacks.

“In law, there is a principle that “those who assert must prove.” This pathological liar has spent the past few years of her useless life defaming and abusing people in public office and their loved ones,” Minister Rodrigues stated.

She added, “While some have succumbed to her bullying, others have instituted legal proceedings, and some like myself, have chosen to completely ignore this irrelevant creature since she holds no value in my opinion.”

The Minister maintained that her integrity is unshakable and that she remains committed to serving the people of Guyana.“The thousands of people I have helped, directly and indirectly, know my passion for, and commitment to this job,” she stated.

The Minister acknowledged that similar attacks may continue but declared she would not be distracted by baseless accusations. She stressed that she would not engage with “every lowlife post” made by the individual, as she has “far more important matters” to focus on.

The minister, who is a trained attorney, said she is consulting with her attorneys on the way forward.
