The father of Samia Fredericks, 27, a teacher at the Warapoka Primary School, a sub-district of Moruca, Region One, who has been battling health issues since 2024, has expressed gratitude for dialysis treatment available at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC).

In an interview with Harry Frederick, 59, the father of Samia, he stated that his daughter who also attends the Cyril Potter College of Education (CPCE), began experiencing pain and swelling in her body while being at home in Moruca during the holidays.

As a result, she was rushed to the Kumaka District Hospital.

“The doctor said that she has gallstones, water in her lungs, and her cholesterol and blood pressure were high,” Harry said.

Fredericks was referred to Suddie Hospital, where she received treatment to have the fluids from her lungs removed.

She remained hospitalized during the holidays until she was later discharged. Fredericks was scheduled to return for a visit on January 03, 2025, but missed her appointment date after she began experiencing severe pain again.

She was subsequently taken to the Moruca Hospital and was further treated. Frederick was referred to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) for advanced treatments.

The young teacher was later taken to GPHC.

“I visited her yesterday in the public hospital, and she was doing much better. The doctors specified that the toxins in her body, which were at 18%, are now at 3%. I feel a little bit more; my daughter would’ve lost her life. She is the 4th child amongst 7 of me and my wife, and she has 2 children to take care of. I am happy for the help of GPHC as she undergoes dialysis,” Harry said.
