The family of Ivor Thornhill, a 36-year-old laborer from ‘E’ Field, Sophia, is calling for justice following his tragic death. Thornhill, known for his hardworking nature and strength, was brutally attacked on December 25th and succumbed to his injuries on December 26, 2024.
The circumstances surrounding his death have raised serious questions and left his loved ones in anguish. According to reports, Thornhill lived with his common-law partner, Leslyn Norton, 38, for the past four years.
Their relationship was reportedly strained, with allegations of infidelity and disputes. On Christmas morning, they argued Kitty Market, where Norton claimed Thornhill accused her of being unfaithful. She stated she left him at the market and returned home.
Later that evening, Norton said she encountered Thornhill again at a local shop in Sophia. An argument ensued, during which she alleged Thornhill threatened her. She claimed she walked away along the ‘E’ Field Dam, where she saw Thornhill hiding in bushes. She reported telling two unidentified men that Thornhill was following her and that she feared for her safety.
Norton alleged that the men confronted Thornhill, and she later saw them in a scuffle with him.According to her account, she ran home but later returned to find Thornhill lying in blood.
Norton claimed she left the scene and only reported the incident to the police the following day.Eyewitness testimony, however, has raised questions about Norton’s account.
A neighbor, Boigny Miggins, reported hearing cries for help and finding Thornhill on the dam with severe injuries. He also said Norton was present at the scene but showed no apparent concern for Thornhill’s condition.
The man reported that Norton said, “Is good fah he (Thornhill), he should f*#@ing dead.” Miggins stated he called for an ambulance. Thornhill succumbed to his injuries the following day.
Investigators discovered multiple injuries, including deep wounds, to Thornhill’s face, body, and limbs.
A knife was recovered from the scene, but the severity and nature of the injuries suggest the involvement of a larger weapon, possibly a cutlass.
The timeline of events and Norton’s actions have led to scrutiny. Her delayed reporting and alleged remarks at the scene have raised questions about her role or knowledge of the incident.
The two unidentified men remain at large, and their involvement is under investigation.
