Mark Simon, the 32-year-old motorcyclist, who had reportedly crashed into a utility pole on the Land of Plenty Public Road, Essequibo Coast, last Sunday, has succumbed.

Region’s Two Commander Superintendent Khemraj Shivbaran disclosed that Simon died on Wednesday.

According to the Guyana Police Force (GPF), Simon was riding a motorcycle bearing registration CP 115 northbound along the Land of Plenty Public Road, allegedly at a fast rate, when he lost control and collided with a Guyana Power and Light (GPL) utility pole located on the western side of the road.

The impact of the collision caused Simon to fall onto the roadway, where he sustained multiple injuries, including head trauma, a fractured rib, and a broken hip.

Anti-crime patrol ranks responded swiftly, picking up Simon in an unconscious state and transporting him to the Suddie Public Hospital.

He was examined by the doctor on duty, treated for his injuries, and admitted as a patient. Despite medical efforts, Simon succumbed to his injuries three days later.
