President Ali Engages East Bank Residents, Focuses on Community Development
President Dr. Irfaan Ali, accompanied by government ministers and officials, conducted a community outreach on January 14, 2025, in Friendship and Garden of Eden on the East Bank of Demerara (EBD).
The visit highlighted the government’s commitment to addressing pressing issues in housing, infrastructure, security, and sanitation while promoting community-driven development.
During his engagement, President Ali acknowledged challenges in regularizing land ownership in the area. He explained that many lands are privately owned or caught in legal disputes, which has complicated efforts to improve housing and infrastructure.
The President assured residents that the Ministry of Housing is actively working on solutions, urging patience as the process unfolds.
“Over the last four years, we’ve been engaging communities, engaging citizens, and engaging people on the priorities within your communities because we believe in building in conjunction with the people,” President Ali stated.
The President also emphasized the government’s focus on community investments in 2025. Priority areas include enhancing community security with improved lighting and outposts, improving sanitation facilities, and establishing community centers.
These initiatives aim to address common challenges identified during consultations with residents. Residents of Friendship and Garden of Eden expressed their appreciation for the government’s direct approach and the President’s personal involvement in resolving their concerns.
This outreach is part of the administration’s broader strategy to engage with communities nationwide, ensuring that development projects align with local needs and aspirations.
By investing in grassroots initiatives, the government seeks to foster inclusive growth and improve the quality of life for all Guyanese.
President Ali’s commitment to empowering communities through collaboration and investment underscores his administration’s vision for a more equitable and sustainable future.
As the government continues its engagements, residents can look forward to tangible improvements in their neighborhoods and an enhanced partnership between citizens and leadership.
