Minister within the Ministry of Housing and Water, Susan Rodrigues, has revealed that the first phase of infrastructure development in the Strathspey New Housing Scheme has been completed.

She made this announcement on Saturday when President Dr. Irfaan Ali and two other government ministers visited the community.

While addressing a large gathering, Minister Rodrigues commended the allottees for their dedication to building their homes.“

This is one of those new thriving housing areas, and I’m so proud of the allottees who are building here. I can safely say that we have completed the first phase of infrastructure for these new areas,” said Minister Rodrigues.

“We have installed electricity and water, and many of the allottees are in the process of constructing their homes.”

The Minister highlighted the government’s commitment to supporting homeowners, particularly those seeking assistance through the steel and cement subsidy programme.

“This will be a model housing area,” Minister Rodrigues affirmed. “We are also aware of the need to upgrade infrastructure in areas where many homes are already completed. As such, we will conduct a visit to assess the streets and prioritise upgrades based on occupancy levels.”

Residents in the area can also anticipate enhancements in water supply. Minister Rodrigues noted that the upgrades to the Friendship Water Treatment Plant, which serves Strathspey, will improve water quality and availability.

“You can look forward to an increased water supply, better service levels, and improved quality once the upgrades are completed,” she assured.
