President Irfaan Ali: Every rank in the joint services, at the level of constable be paid $130k
In a bid to enhance equity and consistency across the Joint Services, President Irfaan Ali has announced a significant increase in the minimum wage for ranks in the Guyana Police Force, Guyana Fire Service, and Guyana Prison Service.
Effective immediately, the minimum monthly salary for all constables will be set at $130,000, up from previous rates ranging between $105,000 and $110,000. This announcement follows recent salary adjustments for members of the Joint Services, which included a 10% salary increase, a one-month salary bonus, and the $100,000 cash grant provided to citizens.
The new salary adjustment aims to address disparities in the salary structure, ensuring uniformity and fairness across the ranks.During an event at the Guyana Fire Service headquarters, the President highlighted that although the government had already made efforts to increase and adjust salaries, some inconsistencies had been discovered.
Specifically, the pay for constables at the lowest rank varied across different agencies, with some receiving $130,000 while others earned significantly less. To resolve these inconsistencies, the President instructed the Minister of Finance to implement immediate changes, ensuring all constables in the Joint Services are paid the same base salary of $130,000.
The move is expected to primarily benefit constables who were earning between $105,000 and $110,000, bringing them in line with the new minimum wage. It reflects the government’s commitment to improving the financial well-being of those who serve the country with dedication and pride.
The salary adjustments are part of a broader effort to improve working conditions and ensure financial stability for members of the Joint Services. The President emphasized that these changes are aimed at ensuring equity across the entire service, allowing all ranks to feel valued and supported in their roles.
This salary increase is just one of many initiatives aimed at enhancing the quality of life for members of the Joint Services, both professionally and personally. The President reiterated the government’s commitment to providing continued support to those serving in the nation’s security forces, ensuring their welfare and well-being.
The President’s dedication to improving the lives of the Joint Services has been a consistent priority since he assumed office, with a focus on fostering better conditions for those who serve the nation with pride and commitment.
