Guyanese citizens who have yet to register for the $100,000 cash grant are encouraged to remain calm, as accessible walk-in locations will be established to accommodate all eligible individuals.

This reassurance came from Senior Minister in the Office of the President with responsibility for Finance and Public Service, Dr. Ashni Singh, during an exclusive interview with the Department of Public Information (DPI) on Sunday evening.

As it stands, approximately 412,000 Guyanese have completed their registration for the cash grant, which is currently being rolled out in Regions Five and Six.

A schedule for the registration process in the remaining regions will be announced shortly. To date, 302,000 cheques have been printed, with over 90,000 already distributed to recipients. Minister Singh emphasized that there is no need for panic or haste regarding registration.

Two late registration centres have already been established in Region Four, specifically at the Umana Yana and the National Gymnasium. These centres will remain open for extended periods to accommodate those who may be unable to register in the initial days.

“There is absolutely no necessity to worry if you didn’t manage to register on day one or two. Please visit the advertised registration locations during the designated dates.

You don’t necessarily have to arrive at 9 o’clock in the morning to be at the front of the line,” the minister advised.

In addition, Minister Singh urged the public to exercise patience while at the registration centres, assuring that no eligible Guyanese will be left out of the benefits offered by the initiative.Further reinforcing the commitment to support citizens, His Excellency Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali highlighted that the financial assistance provided through the cash grant initiative is not a one-time event.

Future cash grants will also be introduced to supplement this support, contributing to the overall welfare of the nation. Ultimately, this initiative is part of a broader government strategy since 2020 aimed at enhancing the livelihoods of all citizens, with an estimated $60 billion set to be distributed directly to Guyanese through this cash grant program.
