

A 55-year-old motorcyclist lost his life in a tragic accident on Sunday, January 5, 2025, along the Houston Public Road near Rahaman’s Park.
The deceased has been identified as Brain Paul McKenzie, a resident of Corriverton, Berbice.According to police reports and video footage reviewed during the investigation, McKenzie was riding his motorcycle, CH 8290, at a high speed along the southern carriageway heading west.
Notably, he was not wearing a safety helmet at the time.As he approached Rahaman’s turn, McKenzie attempted to navigate a left turn without reducing his speed. He lost control of the motorcycle, which collided with the metal guardrail separating the eastern and western carriageways.
The impact caused McKenzie to be flung violently into a nearby light pole before landing on the road surface. The collision left him with severe injuries to his head and body.
Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) were promptly dispatched to the scene, but despite their efforts, McKenzie was pronounced dead on arrival by Dr. Kellman.
McKenzie’s body has been transported to the Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, where it awaits a post-mortem examination to confirm the cause of death.The accident has once again highlighted the importance of adhering to road safety regulations, particularly the use of helmets, which can significantly reduce the risk of fatal head injuries.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing as police work to piece together all the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
