A tragic and shocking discovery was made at Abrams Creek, Region 2, on Boxing Day when the body of 60-year-old Morris Goocharan, a farmer from Jacklow, Pomeroon River, was found in the water.

His remains, partially eaten by fish, were recovered by locals, raising suspicions of foul play. Goocharan had left home on Christmas Eve at 7:30 a.m. to sell pigs, as was customary for him. He spoke to his wife at approximately 10:00 a.m., assuring her he would return shortly.

However, when she returned home from an errand in Charity at 4:00 p.m., she was unable to reach him. Growing increasingly concerned, she attempted to contact his friends, but they, too, were unresponsive.

Reports later surfaced that Goocharan had left with unknown individuals earlier that day and never returned. The grim discovery of his body at Abrams Creek the following day has left his family and the community in shock.

Goocharan, a father of three, was described as a hardworking farmer and a devoted family man. While his wife, who has chosen to remain anonymous, mourns in private, questions remain about the circumstances of his death. Preliminary information suggests he may have been murdered and thrown overboard by three suspects.

Authorities have launched an investigation, but no arrests have been made so far.The tragic incident has shaken the Pomeroon-Supenaam region, where residents have expressed concerns about safety and justice.

Investigators are appealing to anyone with information to come forward to aid in solving the case. As the family grieves this devastating loss, Goocharan’s death underscores the vulnerability of individuals in remote communities and the pressing need for enhanced security measures. His children, along with the wider community, hope that justice will soon be served.
